Investment Opportunities in Iraq's Telecommunication Industry to be Discussed at the 2013 Iraq Telecoms Conference

The CWC Group's Iraq Telecoms Conference will discuss the investment opportunities in the Iraqi telecommunications industry. The strategic Conference, now in its eighth year, will take place over three days on the 7 - 9 October in Turkey, Istanbul and will gather government officials with key decision makers to provide insights into potential lucrative business opportunities in the industry.

The Iraqi telecommunications industry represents the country's second largest revenue generator. With the Iraqi Government taking steps to consider telecoms technologies as a catalyst to achieve the boarder goal of full economic recovery, the industry continues to pique the interest of both national and international investors. 2013 has already seen a vast amount of international investment with over 70% of shares sold in the recent Asiacell IPO being bought by foreign investors. The mandatory IPO took place in February and rose over $1.3bn for the Iraqi based mobile operator.

Investment will also be a key feature in H.E. Dr Torhan Mudher Al Hassan, Minster of Communications, and Republic of Iraq keynote address. Focusing on connecting Iraq with the rest of the world as a means of supporting its rapid economic growth, the keynote address will discuss the opportunities available and role of investors in the development of the Iraqi telecommunications sector. Iraq Telecoms Conference sets the scene for the Iraqi telecommunications industry by addressing the issues that matter in the transformation of the most dynamic sector in Iraq. Attended by over 300 industry representatives and supported by key Iraqi Ministries including the Iraqi Ministry of Communications, the Iraqi Parliament, the Kurdistan Ministry of Communications and the Iraq Communications Commission, Iraq Telecoms has built a reputation as being the key event in the industry.
