On June 5th, 2014, Iraqi government has mentioned that the start of construction on a tri-city project to build more than 3,000 housing units for low-income families.
Government media advisor Ali al-Musawi said, "The project, to be executed by various local and foreign companies, includes building 3,200 housing units in Babil, Maysan and Diyala provinces at a total cost of 112 billion Iraqi dinars ($96 million)."
The three large housing complexes are being built around al-Hilla, al-Amara and Baqubah, the capitals of the three provinces, al-Musawi said. The project is slated to be completed by early 2016, he said, and the units will be distributed to the poorest families in those cities.
