Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hoshyar Zebari received today August 23, 2014, in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vladimir McKay Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation in all fields in the forefront of them the political, economic, foreign trade and military cooperation. The minister urged the importance of the opening of the Belarusian Embassy in Baghdad to support these relationships.
The Minister also referred to the importance of this visit at this time, and what it represents in supporting the government's efforts to counter the threat of the terrorist organization "Daash" which threatens the countries in the region in general, and to support the political efforts to form a government of national consensus.
In another aspect of the meeting, there was the signing of the agreement "promotion and protection of investments between Iraq and Belarus", signed from the Iraqi side, by Dr. Sami al-Araji, head of the National Investment DFI.
The meeting was attended by the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and acting Head of the Department of Europe and the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Belarus.
