Recently, full production has been announced by Mondi at its new industrial bags plant in Sulaimaniyah, northern Iraq. Partnered with Kaso Group, this greenfield project is anticipated to strengthen Mondi’s industrial bags business in the expanding Middle East and North Africa region (MENA). It has to be noted that this project has been marked as the first ever bag plant in Iraq which will support the cement industry of the country. Cement industry of the country is also experiencing stable leap recently.
Issa Azar, Regional Manager MENA Mondi Industrial Bags, said, “We are proud to announce the opening of our new greenfield plant in Sulaymaniah.” The project has a great impact over Mondi’s strategy to support our customers’ expansion in emerging markets. Rozhgar Barzan, Procurement-Sourcing Manager, United Cement Company - Lafarge Iraq, stated that having into tie up with Mondi is a good decision from logistic perspective of the business house.
“Iraq is now one of the Middle East’s growing countries and the construction industry is helping to rebuild the rebuild the nation” – as stated by Abdel Hafez Abki, Managing Director of Mondi Kaso Iraq. He also added that the new plant will strengthen Mandi’s reliability as a good industrial bag producer. Omar Ismail, Managing Director of Mass Iraq Co. for industrial investment stated that they are pleased for being with the startup factory of Mandi. The company is looking forward to the further mutual benefits.
